FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
4th El Cajon Invitational Art Exhibit Reception Next Week. . .
White House Award Winning Sculpture Joins Artists . . .
El Cajon, CA : . . . Seventeen artists and photographers have been
joined by one sculptor
for the 4th El Cajon Invitational Art Exhibit
at the St. Clair Gallery located in the East County Business Center
at 270 East Douglas Avenue in El Cajon. The show opened
June 17 and will run for 45 days, closing on July 31, 2008.
Local Sculptor Jane Darin will join seventeen other artists
for the exhibit’s reception on July 17th from 5:30 to 8:30 at
the St. Clair Gallery and exhibit six pieces of her award
winning sculpture. A featured work is “Waiting,” which won the first place award in the Fine Art Exhibition 2007, at the
Bonita Museum and Cultural Center in Bonita California.
Among Jane’s other accomplishments, in the fall of 1999,
she was invited by Hillary Clinton to create an ornament for
the White House Christmas Tree. Jane created a portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe. A photograph of the sculpture was included in the tour brochure of the White House for that
Christmas season. It took some research to discover the color of Georgia's eyes since
many of her pictures are black and white. Jane found the answer in a letter from a friend;
they are hazel. The figure now resides in the Clinton Library. See Archives on Jane’s web
site: www.janedarin.net for more details.
Jane has pursued art with private studies and workshops with American, English, Dutch,
Egyptian, Japanese and Russian artists in several different media.

Artist Patrick Carney began his career in the 1960’s while hanging out with musicians, many of whom became famous. Patrick is presenting Artist’s Proofs of some of his works such as a double portrait of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, The Boss, Sting
and another double portrait of Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.
St. Clair Gallery Director Howard Bagley says this 4th
Invitational is the strongest exhibit yet in the series
of seven invitational exhibits planned for 2008. “The collective quality and diversity of the
work presented by the exhibiting artists is absolutely outstanding,” says Bagley. “We
have 107 pieces of fine art in all mediums hanging in the 4th Invitational, which makes the St. Clair Gallery exhibit the largest in East County. To this mix we have added the
outstanding sculpture of Jane Darin for the reception on July 17th, creating a true
“museum quality” to the event.”
The collective awards, published articles, and other honors of this group of artists are far
too numerous to mention. Plus, the work currently presented is sticking in terms of its
broad appeal and diversity of subject.
The eighteen participating artists will host an artist’s reception on Thursday, July 17th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in the St Clair Gallery located on the second floor of the East County
Business Center at 270 East Douglas Avenue in El Cajon. The artists look forward to being able to meet guests and talk about their work.
Other artists contributing to the exhibit are Michael Kemp, Phebe Burnham, judi sim, Gladys Tully, Betty Blount, Jeffrey
Brosbe, Marsha Boston, Jo Caldwell, Yanina Cambareri, John Valois, Chuck McPherson,
Carol Cottone-Kolthoff, Melva Riley, Jack Jordan, Lola Juris and Donna Butnik. The
reception is free and open to the public. The artwork presented is for sale.
The St. Clair Gallery is open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and until
4:30 pm on Friday.
